Weasel· Festival Submissions in Progress

In a remote rural village, nine-year-old Lina lives with her aging adoptive grandparents, clinging to the fragile sense of belonging they provide. When the family takes in an abandoned baby boy, Lina becomes convinced that he is a weasel spirit sent to replace her. As fear, jealousy, and local folklore begin to consume her, Lina is driven toward a desperate act that blurs the line between protection and violence. Caught between imagination and reality, she must confront what she is willing to do to hold on to love.

Taste China is an ongoing vertical mini-documentary series created for Silu’s Taste China initiative, featuring Chinese restaurants and the people behind them.

Through short-form documentary storytelling, each episode explores the personal stories, cultural backgrounds, and philosophies that shape a restaurant—from the owners’ journeys and memories to their approach to food, hospitality, and community.

Designed specifically for social platforms, the series brings intimate, character-driven restaurant stories to audiences across Instagram, Xiaohongshu, and Facebook, using a concise documentary format that combines interviews, observational footage, food cinematography, and narrative editing.

No Tender Land

Sixteen-year-old Taozi moves with her family to California, settling into her father’s home, where he has already lived for five years. While waiting for her busy mother’s arrival, Taozi finds that years of separation have turned her father into a familiar stranger. When she discovers a romantic gift in his car meant for another woman, her sense of family begins to collapse.

On her birthday, Taozi tries to recover comforting memories but encounters only her father’s neglect and the devastating news of her parents’ divorce. That night, she runs away to the beach. Gazing at an ocean that feels both familiar and foreign, she decides to let the sea breeze carry away the past and embrace a new beginning.

Weasel

When her adoptive grandparents bring home a baby boy, a nine-year-old girl believes he is a weasel spirit sent to replace her—and spirals into a desperate attempt to hold onto love.

Weasel was primarily filmed in live action. All shots involving the infant and the weasel, as well as the film’s animated sequences, were created using AI-assisted visual effects and animation in post-production. No infant or live animal was used on set.
