Biography
Yiran “Cynthia” Wang is a Los Angeles–based filmmaker, director, and production designer originally from China. She studied filmmaking at Emerson College and Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television, developing a cross-cultural practice that combines narrative filmmaking with visual world-building.
Her work centers on women and individuals shaped by migration, labor, and cultural displacement, with a particular focus on experiences that are often overlooked or misrepresented. Working across directing, production design, model making, and AI-generated imagery, she uses space, color, texture, and composition to translate emotion and cultural identity into visual form. Her practice moves between realism and abstraction while exploring emerging technologies, including AI, as evolving artistic media.
